Wolfberries have been used in traditional folk medicine for over 5,000 years. Sounds familiar to you? I didn´t know about "Wolfberry" until a few days ago. Ketaralah limited pengetahuan hehehe...Wolfberry is also another name for the western snowberry. I have been sighing or better to say "complaining" to an acquaintance that my boys always fall sick especially during winter time. She recommended me to give "Wolfberries" to them because its good to enhance immune system function but I never bother to listen, why should I? LOL...the word doesn´t sound interesting pun hehe. After a few days telling about "Wolfberries" she suddenly wrote to me that the wolfberries packet is on the way to my letter box. What!, she sent me one? LOL, macam tida percaya pula ada orang bersusah payah dan baik hati hehehe...after 3 days I got the packet, when I opened and look at them I was full of doubt, I scratch my head for a second to ponder. Should I consume them or not especially the product was produced in China, sorry to say but I am a bit scared of the hygienic. The packet weigh about 500 grams. The fruits are small and dried in red colour, look like small red chillies. To be honest they almost ended in my rubbish bin but then I had a second thought, if one take their initiative to spend money buying for me, taking their spare time going to Post Office, it must be a reliable product, okay, I surfed on the internet and tried to find the truth about it...after reading encyclopedia about "Wolfberries" macam tida percaya pula. Macam saya kana pugai. They stated that Wolfberries is the most nutritionally-rich fruit on the planet. They have been in traditional Chinese medicine for about 5,000 years. Aikk macam siok pula, I became very interested, even manage to persuade hubby to read more about it. We both were surprised when they stated that the people who consumed this fruit apparently lived free of common diseases like arthritis, cancer and diabetes. Moreover, their life expectancy has reached over 100 years! bah siapa tida mau panjang umur kalau sihat hehehe...This fruit has been studied extensively over the last 30 years and believe this little fruit can change the health of the world if more people know about it. If its true why not give it a try and tell your friends and together maybe we can learn something useful and will put that knowledge for our own sake and the ones we love. Hubby and I made our order. I kilo of wolfberries. They have a branch producing the fruit in Berlin. I mainly need them for Kyle since he has a weak immune system and they also stated the fruit good for eye sight, nahh hopefully its true, who knows if taking it continuously Kyle might not need his strong glasses in the future. Read about this fruit more here http://www.wolfberries.com. There are so many links/websites about this fruits on the net..find out.

Long life!
How does it feel to be over 90 years old eh? Our Oma (hubby´s grandma) just celebrated her 91th birthday a few weeks ago. Looking at her, I don´t believe that she is now 91 years old, I remember last year when she turned to 90 years old, she said "this will be the last birthday" but she was wrong. Of course she looks very old but physically she is quite fit for her age. A few years ago she registered herself in the nearby old folks home but so far she prefers to stay in her own big family house on the hill. Like other housewife, Oma also doing her house chores everyday. In the summer she does her gardening, plantings veges and and taking care of her roses. Not only having green fingers, she is also a great cook!, we loves her cooking eventhough we always complaint how fatty the food is LOL. I think that´s what we will be missing one day when Oma leave this world. She is spending most of her time in her kitchen and does lots of baking for her friends and her two sisters who come for a coffee. I wonder how she can manage doing groceries shopping and carrying stuff up hill. Really amazing eh? I hope my mom will also live longer and staying healthy so that she has the chance to see all her grandchildren growing up. A toast from a friend, Anita Hubby and Oma with her two younger sisters. Oma and her sisters, Tante Ilse and Tante Fridl Birthday girl!
Addicted!
Haha...Hilda, I saw you nah once I started I never stop, kalau boleh nah hari-hari mau drop by and re-decorate my blog. I am addicted already now haha. Kebaruan lah katakan but I hope this way will brush my sedia kalah bad English haha. How´s life treating you over there? We´re hoping winter will be over very soon, I really have enuff!. Cannot stand it anymore, not the cold but due to cold weather, many children fall sick and if one sick in the house the whole family affected. My kids and I have been sick for two weeks now and thank God they´re recovering slowly now. Today Kenneth has to skip kindergarden because he lost his voice and his cold become worst but I gave plenty of liquid and lots of vitamins with enough rest/sleep. I think he is ready to go back to the kindergarden tomorrow. For a few days I have to layan si Kyle yang ter-sangat lah cranky because of his sickness, just imagine the combination of Fever, flu, cough and diarhea at the same time, who can take it all? Nobody!, he is already very skinny now even lighter than before, pity him!. Everything is wrong for him when he is sick, we cannot even touch him, he refused to talk. Drink and food looked like a poison for him. All what he wants is to cry..cry and cry..hati saya pun ikut nangis oh. Mau hilang sudah sabar saya oh. But today for the first time he ate the food that I feed him, he managed to empty his plate today during dinner, what a relief!. So stressful lah, when children sick like this I really missing family back home, how I wish they´re here to give their helping hands. But well, we learn a lot how to be independent right?

Kitchen Hunting!!
Today is our second time visit to Frauendorfer, its a huge furniture shop located in the another town (Amberg). At the moment they´re offering 60% discount on all furniture including kitchen. Since we need a new kitchen for the new house, we think this is the best time to do survey. I know its still way to early to purchase a new kitchen when our new house is still not standing yet but I think while we have spare times its the best idea to do planning and look around, this way we can easily compare the prices from different shops. We don´t actually want to buy a new kitchen coz its cost lost of money, especially if we already start building later, every penny we have to count....but then, on the other hand, I guess we have no choice but to get a new one..we cannot take along our kitchen now..its quite an old kitchen, I don´t know how many hands have been using it before, anyway, we brought it from our rental appartment 5 years ago...the condition is quite bad, I don´t we can move and set it up again. We requested the salesman to draw the kitchen layout on the computer, its really look very nice, he did exactly like what we wishes. The way he drew the kitchen macam real pula. I cannot wait to see the real kitchen standing hehe...btw, we have decided what material, colour and brand for the new kitchen..He did the counting as well, terkejut juga but that´s what we expect, quite a big amount eventhough after 60% discount (sigh), mau menangis air mata darah oohhh...but anyway, hubby is still surveying and comparing, hopefully we can find other shops which can offer good price with good kitchen. I am thinking what its like to have my new kitchen, When I think of it, it seems like the ultimate luxury.
Cold and Flu: Immune Boosting Strategies
Since my boys and I just recovered from fever and cold (but still coughing), I just like to share this articles for information and hope it gives good tips to everyone during this nasty cold weather....Stay healthy!. One in three Americans suffers from the common cold each year, but this year it doesn't have to be you! Fight the flu and combat your cold with these immune-boosting strategies and remedies. Prepare for Cold Season! The best natural protection from cold and flu is to keep your immune system going strong and to practice preventative measures. Wash your hands frequently with soap, and wash your face at least twice a day. Also, protect your upper back and neck area, because this is where most of the colds will attack the body. The activities listed below will help you build your immunity. 6 Simple Ways to Boost Your Immunity 1. Rest up. Studies show that your immune system function drops by an average of 60% after just three nights of poor sleep, so be sure you are getting plenty of quality rest, at least eight hours each night. 2. Lessen your stress. Keep your stress level low with meditation, tai chi or yoga. 3. Eat sweet potatoes and mushrooms. These foods help optimize your body's immunity function. Sweet potatoes contain higher amounts of vitamin C (a famous immune support) and beta-carotene than carrots, as well as being rich in DHEA, a potent immunity booster. Certain types of mushrooms, like shitake, maitake and reishi, contain polysaccharides, sterols, coumarin, vitamins, minerals, and amino acids that increase your immune function. 4. Pick potent herbs. Eat lots of potent herbs and spices, especially garlic, ginger, cilantro, and oregano. 5. Astralagus: the immunity super herb. Astralagus has been used in Asia to prevent cold and flu for more than 2,000 years. This herb stimulates the body's production of interferon, which is a potent immune protein that boosts your ability to fight infections and diseases. 6. Keep your middle warm. In Chinese medicine, the abdomen is considered the storehouse of the body's energy. Keeping your abdomen warm and protected from weather extremes has immense immune benefits. A good way to replenish your energy bank is to regularly place a hot water bottle on your abdomen. Also beneficial is applying abdominal wraps soaked in rejuvenating herbal solutions, or pouches containing similar herbs. Natural Remedies and Relief for Cold and Flu If it's too late to prepare, and you are already suffering from the runny nose, headache and fever of cold and flu, these recommendations can help you get you back on your feet in no time! • At the first sign of a cold attack, drink scallion and ginger tea, and lots of liquids. • Fasting or light eating is sometimes recommended when you have a cold, so as not to detract from the body's healing by having to digest heavy foods. In general, eat as little solid food as possible to avoid burdening the immune system, but drink plenty of warm fluids such as soups, porridges and tea. • Get plenty of rest and don't engage in exercise. When you have a cold, exercise depletes the body of qi, the vital energy needed to fight pathogens. • Taking up to 50 milligrams of zinc a day may help reduce the symptoms of the common cold. • It is helpful to inhale eucalyptus, oregano, and lavender, which are antibacterial, antiviral, and decongesting. • I often recommend to my patients our Cold and Flu Formula that contains natural herbs like honeysuckle flower, burdock root, apricot seed, mulberry root and others that support healthy immune function, and comfort cold and flu symptoms. This formula is available online at askdrmao.com. I hope you use these suggestions in times of sickness and that they serve you well. I invite you to visit often and share your own personal health and longevity tips with me. May you stay healthy, live long, and live happy! -Dr. Mao
